The reason England have not performed in this series is simple, mental fatigue. Most of the guys have been away since early november and must be homesick. On paper the subcontinent doesn't suit us but lets not get too downbeat before a ball has been bowled.
David Neale
Well, this was an exciting game, close and high scoring, and Jonathan Trott did play an exciting game. I have to say, though, overall, and bearing in mind what happened in the test matches, you have to admire and say congrats to the Aussie boys for playing so well in this ODI series, and you cannot ever discount them guys from retaining the World cup, no matter where it is based. It's a shame it wasn't a somewhat closer series, but the Aussies, they never ever give up, and this is a very admirable quality they always have.

@ Jordan Mclafferty... Public school system failing me badly, your comment makes no sense. My point was yes we lost in the ODI Series quite badly... So did the Aussies in the Ashes.

Re: Pietersen, no he didn't perform badly in this 1-day series. His average so far is 35 - well acceptable, he has top-scored for England in 2 matches. This average is well above that of several others in the top 5/6 line up for the series.

That is a must needed win by England... A big well done to Trott that was an amazing batting show!! The fielding was amazing and batting was better then the last 3 games... The bowling was good but could have been better, it shows that we need Jamie in all forms of the game!!!! But well done England bring it back!!!

I only hope the management are not back to the ways of old, choosing to be stubborn by assigning Matt Prior an opening role, a role that i', sure he himself would confess that he is not happy with. Prior is good batsman for managing a run chase in the middle of a game. England need to play smart and understand why they have succeeded in the longer version of the game. The writing is on the wall that a Trott-Srauss opening will give confidence to incoming batsmen just looking for a solid platform.

John Walker. Exactly the attitude that has made England a mediocre team over the years. You guys take the Ashes, the world pretty much doesnt care (except Aus ofcourse)

Bell should open giving prior an opportunity to recover from keeping wicket .why are we not trying carter instead of wright before the world cup
