A bustling all-rounder, Tim Bresnan will certainly not let his country down if he is called upon during the Ashes this winter.
The 25-year-old from Castleford, who is a big rugby league fan, was signalled out as a potential star at a young age and was thrust into first-class cricket by Yorkshire as a teenager.
Although part of the England Under 19 set-up, Bresnan didn't really fully produce for the Tykes until the summer of 2005.
An England call-up came along the following year, though the right-armer, along with the rest of the bowlers used, found the going tough in a one-day series against a Sri Lanka side inspired by an in-form Sanath Jayasuriya.
His next opportunity didn't came along until 2008, by which time he had registered his maiden first-class century against Surrey.
However it was the following year that he jumped towards the front of the queue, and not just for limited overs action. With Andrew Flintoff's Test career over, England decided to look at Bresnan against the West Indies on home soil.
Such was the one-sided nature of the series that he ended up barely being used. He didn't take his first wicket until the second innings of the second Test, ending up with three in another landslide victory.
His bowling was much more utilised in the tour of Bangladesh last winter, with his reverse swing particularly impressive, while he also weighed in with some useful runs from number eight in the order.
