Middlesex have axed opening batsman Billy Godleman for the visit of Warwickshire.

Godleman is replaced by Nick Compton in a 12-man squad that also features veteran off-spinner Shaun Udal, who has overcome a knee injury.

Ed Joyce once again leads the side in the continued absence of Ed Smith (ankle).

Andrew Strauss is away on England duty.

Maddy return

Warwickshire welcome back captain Darren Maddy for the trip to Uxbridge.

Maddy has not played since suffering a broken thumb in May but scored a century against Bangladesh A last week to confirm his return to fitness.

Seam bowler Lee Dagget has also been named in the squad after taking six wickets against the tourists.

Long-term absentees Ian Westwood (finger) and Jimmy Anyon (ankle) remain sidelined, while Ian Bell is away on England duty.
