Dwayne Bravo: CSK all-rounder took 2-38 and hit 30 in losing cause
Azhar Mahmood: contributed with bat and ball for Kings XI
Azhar Mahmood claimed three crucial wickets to help Kings XI Punjab beat the Chennai Super Kings by seven runs in the Indian Premier League.
The former Pakistan all-rounder contributed 18 to Punjab's 156-8 and then took 3-25 as the defending champions came up short in their run chase.
Mandeep Singh compiled a measured 56 and combined with Shaun Marsh (32) for an opening stand of 68 before Mahmood cleared the ropes twice in his 12-ball cameo.
But Mahmood and Singh were both dismissed by Dwayne Bravo, and David Miller (19) was the only other Punjab batsman to reach double figures as Albie Morkel (3-29) ripped out the middle order.
Faf du Plessis (29) and Subramaniam Badrinath (25) got the Super Kings reply off to a flying start with a stand of 47 in five overs before Mahmood snapped up a return catch off du Plessis.
Mahmood sent back Badrinath in his next over, and leg-spinner Piyash Chawla chipped in with the scalps of Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja before Bravo reignited the run chase.
Bravo belted two sixes in his 21-ball 30, although his side still needed 21 to win off seven balls when he holed out off Praveen Kumar.
And Mahmood removed the dangerous Morkel in the final over to secure a valuable two points for Punjab in a tightly-packed table.
