Last week's column was entitled "Twist in the Tail", fair enough given the date in Ryder Cup year, but nobody could have written the script from the Kennemer Club in Holland.
Just a few days after turning 40, Darren Christopher Clarke turned the whole story upside down with an astonishing display of top-quality golf to win for the second time this year. In doing so, Darren moved into the top 15 of the order of merit and is now a whisker away from re-entering the world's top 50, having fallen as low as 259th.
