The most recent athlete confirmed by the IOC to fail a drugs test is Ukraine's Olympic heptathlon silver medallist Liudmyla Blonska.

The A sample of the 30-year-old tested positive for a banned substance. The Disciplinary Commission of the IOC will hold a meeting and pass their recommendations to the Executive Board.

Blonska has already served ban in 2003 for testing positive for the anabolic steroid used by the disgraced sprinter Ben Johnson, stanozolol.

If the executive bard strips the Ukrainian of her silver medal then America Hyleas Fountain would take her place with Tatiana Chernova of Russia attaining the bronze.

After taking silver in the world championships last year in Osaka, British number one heptathlete Kerry Sotherton labelled her a cheat.

"I think you can see by the reactions from the other athletes that we are not interested when she is there, we don't support cheats," Sotherton said at the time.

"She has cheated once, who says she is not cheating again?"

"It tarnishes our event and we don't support it in our event, that's why she does not get the support."

Blonska reached the long jump final in Beijing on Tuesday and is the fifth case of drug abuse in the 2008 Games.
