All the King's men

Stars to shine says Kelvin

King's Lynn will travel to Somerset in a confident mood, and why not? They are in very good form and have got a good side. They are particularly impressive around their own track. They beat Somerset last week by 30 points which is a quite trouncing.

Somerset will be very wary of the King's Lynn Stars coming to town on Tuesday night. They will have to have a vast improvement if they want to compete against the Stars.

Saying that they seem to be able to hold their own at home. They managed a win last Friday against Birmingham so they bounced back pretty quickly after that trouncing. They will certainly be looking to do an awful lot better and consecutive home wins may not be that improbable.

Simon Walker is a worry for Somerset though, he took a knock last Friday and is not that happy at the moment. If he is out that will put even more pressure on them and they will rely heavily on their two top guns in Steve Johnston and Emil Kramer. Johnston dropped down from the Elite league this year and will need to be on top form.

Kings Lynn are red hot and the likes of Johnston and Kramer will need to keep the pressure on a lead a big team performance. If they can take control, then the rest of the Somerset boys may be inspired to really kick in.

Quotes of the week

LIVE ON SKY SPORTS
Premier League Speedway
Somerset v Kings Lynn

7.30pm, Tue, Sky Sportys 1

Not only have King's Lynn got a sensational number one rider in Tomas Topinka who has been there for an awfully long time, but they also have a new star in a young man called Darcy Ward. Ward is an Australian who has really burst onto the scene and is scoring point for fun. A lot of people are raving about him. He scored 20 points at Scunthorpe awhile ago and scored 14 points at home last Wednesday

He is someone who is certainly setting the Premier League alight and one for the future. Watch out for him on Tuesday night.

It sets it all up nicely though, when a team is in good form and goes away to an away track, I think the ingredients are there for a very competitive match tomorrow night. I think the challenge of King's Lynn will inspire the home team. They know they have got to perform and they cannot afford to be off form tomorrow night. I think that will really make those boys concentrate and I expect a big performance from the home team.

The track is a small and a young track - only six or seven years old at the most. Despite it smallish it does rides very fast. It is always well prepared and they have spent a lot of money on a new grandstand and a restaurant. They really are developing the whole stadium so it is growing club. I was fortunate to ride on it when it just opened and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Kelvin's Key Man

Darcy Ward (King's Lynn): Young and ambitious, Ward is one to keep a close eye on. He rides very aggressively and I think in front of the Sky camera he will really kick in hard.

Kelvin's Call

Kings Lynn win: I think King's Lynn will be just a little too hot to handle for Somerset. Saying that I expect Somerset to push them all the way. If the weather behaves itself we should be in for some terrific speedway,

David Wilkinson says...

I'm personally looking forward to seeing what Darcy Ward is like as I have seen the reports and hype about the lad - I just hope he can live up to the expectations. I agree with Kelvin, if Ward rides well, I think Kings Lynn will win
