April fool

Dev gets duped, while Tubes breaks a record

SoccerAM Office Blog Posted 3rd April 2012 view comments

Tuesday morning usually consists of an ideas meeting and us all wondering where the weekend went, but we can always rely on Dev to cheer us up!

The former 'Mr Part Five' was reading the Sunday papers when he came across some interesting news: Arsenal were supposedly bringing out their own fragrance called, wait for it... 'I Didn't Smell it'!

Now as an Arsenal fan we reckon the alarm bells should've be ringing anyway, forget the fact that it was April Fools' Day.

Unfortunately for Dev, not only did he fall for it but he put it number one on his list of ideas for this week; something about getting it in to see what it smells like, or even maybe spoofing it... the irony!

As you'd expect he didn't get a chance to explain why he hadn't worked out it was all a gag and quite frankly it was probably better for him that he didn't!

Max has revealed he's up for having his chest waxed live on the show in the next few weeks as he continues his six-pack-in-six-weeks challenge for Men's Health magazine. Hisonly condition is that we get someone professional in to do it... the work experience kid it is then!

As funny as that was we have to give him credit for booking The Milk for last week's show. The boys were all great value, know their football and they've got some really good tunes, too.

And even having a name like 'The Milk' hasn't hindered them! Why they never stuck with 'Nigel Winterburn and the Flat Back Four', we'll never know...

Wax

Elsewhere, Max has revealed he's up for having his chest waxed live on the show in the next few weeks as he continues his six-pack-in-six-weeks challenge for Men's Health magazine.

But as Steve pointed out: "He should really get his stomach waxed instead!"

Max's only condition is that we get someone professional in to do it... the work experience kid it is then!

Hopefully he'll fare better in the six-pack stakes than he did in the FA's tennis ball keepy uppy challenge where he got a grand total of one!

Thankfully Rocket and Tubes had a go as well and the boys did us proud.

Rocket opted for a slightly unconventional strategy of only using his knees and ended up with a more than respectable score somewhere in the 80s.

Players like Rafael van der Vaart, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, as well as all the Soccer Saturday boys have had a go at it, too, but it was Jordan Henderson who was held the record with 148... that is until Tubes stepped up to the plate!

The lyrical genius blew everyone out of the water with an incredible 195, smashing the previous record held by the Liverpool midfielder.

Now if that isn't a challenge to all the pros up and down the country, we don't know what is!

See you on Saturday!
