McNamara: Job done

Good luck to the Crusaders. I'm pleased they are in the competition because it is great for Super League and I hope they go from strength to strength as an organisation.

Bradford Bulls coach Steve McNamara admitted he was relieved to "get the job done" following his side's 34-12 victory over Celtic Crusaders on Saturday.

The Bulls ran in six tries and were 24-0 up at one stage courtesy of tries from Glenn Morrison, Elliott Whitehead and a brace from Dave Halley.

Crusaders improved after the break and registered two tries through hooker Lincoln Withers and an outstanding score by stand-off Matt Smith.

However, Lynch's second half score and the sixth of the night for Bradford by Semi Tadulala wrapped up a revenge victory after they had lost to the Welsh club in May.

McNamara said: "I thought we were efficient and we got done what we had to get done. We acted in a professional manner because this is a difficult place to come.

"The travelling was tough for us yesterday and we had a bit of illness overnight but I think the players conducted themselves professionally and held onto the ball for the majority of the game.

"We were up for nearly 90 per cent of the first half and 80 per cent of the second. It is just something we have not done. We have a lot of talent and quality in our side but we are still playing a bit anxious.

Tough place

"Recent results are obviously denting them a little but we got in front and stayed in front. Good luck to the Crusaders. I'm pleased they are in the competition because it is great for Super League and I hope they go from strength to strength as an organisation.

"Coming to this venue, I've looked at scores from other sides and I knew this would be a really tough place to come."

Crusaders boss John Dixon now has to prepare his basement boys for two away matches at Catalans and Wakefield before facing world champions Leeds Rhinos at home.

Dixon said his side lacked speed in thought, hands and footwork which is something he hopes to change with his recruitment for the next Super League campaign.

The former Brisbane Broncos coach said: "I thought we failed to convert opportunities into points. That's the way we came unstuck.

"There were a couple of things to take out of it.

"We created opportunities to score points and the scoreline in the end heavily favoured the Bulls but the display of heart and determination by our players was pretty fierce."
