Blackstock: loving life
Queens Park Rangers' number nine Dexter Blackstock told Soccer AM how things have changed since Formula One mogul Flavio Briatore bought the West London club.
Blackstock signed for the Superhoops from Southampton in August 2006 and a year later the club was changing ownership, and Blackstock revealed he's loving every minute.
"I'm loving it, I'm staying at home you know because it's quite local to me and the club's moving forwards with the new owners and things are looking on the up.
Along with a new owner Loftus road has been home to a new manager this season in the form of the former Siena manager Luigi De Canio, and despite not having heard of him Blackstock said he's enjoying life under his new gaffer.
" Obviously he has his own methods of how he wants us to play and it's a very attacking and free flowing (style of) football so the boys have responded well.
"There's a little bit of a language barrier but football is a universal language so we can all understand what he's trying to say, so things are looking bright."
Optimistic
Despite adopting an attacking style of football QPR have struggled in the league this season and currently find themselves in the relegation zone but Blackstock was optimistic about their chances this season.
"We can still get promoted in theory because the Championship is so tight; if you put a couple of wins together you can move up the league."
Glamour
Briatore's arrival at the club has been accompanied by an increase in glamour at the Loft with the likes of Supermodel Naomi Campbell and former IT girl Tamara Beckwith spotted taking in a game, while Briatore has a special mode of transport to get to the games.
"Flavio comes in on a helicopter, I don't where he lands it but he comes in a helicopter!
"I heard she (Campbell) wondered down into the dressing room before a game this season...and saw a few things! Hahaha."
