Arshavin: Toasting Super Cup success
Zenit St Petersburg boss Dick Advocaat claims Tottenham remain some way off striking a deal for Andrei Arshavin.
Spurs have been chasing the Russia international for some time, keen to bolster their attacking options following the sale of Robbie Keane to Liverpool and the ongoing saga surrounding Dimitar Berbatov's future.
Advocaat left the coveted playmaker on the bench for the first half of Friday's 2-1 Super Cup victory over Manchester United and has recently claimed Arshavin's focus has begun to drift.
However, he insists Tottenham's interest in his prize asset had no bearing on his decision to omit the forward from his starting XI in Monaco.
The former Rangers manager revealed Spurs are still some six million euros (£4.8million) short of meeting Zenit's £18million asking price and insists the 27-year-is going nowhere.
"I should perhaps also have to explain why other players were not playing," he said.
"You make a decision and that was that Dominguez played the first half and Arshavin the second. It's as simple as that.
"They (Tottenham) had several weeks of time to buy him and they did not offer 22 million euros like everybody has been writing but just 16 million euros.
"I think that Arshavin costs more than 16 million euros."
