Domenech: Axed by FFF
The France Football Federation have confirmed that former national team coach Raymond Domenech has been fired from his role.
Domenech's contract as manager came to an end following Les Bleus' fateful World Cup campaign, which saw them exit at the first hurdle with just one point.
Player revolts, national enquiries, the team's refusal to train and the sending home of Nicolas Anelka following a half time bust up with Domenech all occurred during the tournament this summer.
Laurent Blanc has taken Domenech's place at the helm, but the year-old was still on the payroll with the FFF, however French chief Fernand Duchaussoy officially announced the axing due to "gross misconduct."
Domenech has been charged with a number of faults, including his decision to refuse to shake the hand of South Africa coach Carlos Alberto Parreira following their 2-1 defeat to the host nation in the final group game.
"Raymond Domenech received his letter of dismissal for gross misconduct with no negotiation on Friday," Duchaussoy.
"If he wishes he has the right to lodge an appeal before the courts. But considering the clauses in the contract I would be shocked by that.
Duchaussoy also accused Domenech "of failing to warn the (FFF) president (at the time Jean-Pierre Escalettes) who was there in person of the events which took place at half-time in the France-Mexico game."
