Green: Early lead
Australian Nathan Green stormed in to the lead of the Texas Open after a run of birdies at La Cantera Golf Club's Resort Course
Green picked up six birdies over the opening 10 holes and nine in total as he carded an eight-under 62.
That was good enough to see the 33-year-old lead Olin Brown and Paul Claxton by two strokes - with a further six players tied on five-under.
And Green was thrilled with his form in Texas, saying: "It was just one of those rounds where everything went right.
"For two months, I felt I couldn't do anything right so the last month felt a lot better.
"I made a good run from about six onwards and made a good 10-footer on six and just hit it close.
"It was just one of those days I got the speed (of the greens) early, and I didn't have a great deal of work.
"I had a couple of easy birdies but I didn't have to work too hard. I just made some every now and again it felt like I hit some good putts that kept the confidence going and kept me on the run."
Browne remained hot on the heels of Green after his flawless round, which included six birdies.
"This course is right up my alley," he said.
"I hit every green and only had one shaky putt. I like this golf course. It fits my eye and I'm happy to get to the start that I did."
Claxton also enjoyed a bogey-free round, including birdies on the last two holes, to move into a tie for second.
Greg Kraft, who birdied the 16, 17th and 18th holes, Patrick Sheehan, Jason Gore, Nick O'Hern, Tim Herron and Chad Collins are in a share of fourth after rounds of 65.
