Defending champion Novak Djokovic will do all he can to retain his title in London.
The Serbian star claimed his maiden ATP World Tour title in Shanghai last year, Russian Nikolay Davydenko dispatched 6-1 7-5 in the final.
His improved form during the latter half of the season has also seen him reclaim his number three ranking from Andy Murray, and make him arguably the favourite to triumph in the English capital.
The 22-year-old has won four titles in 2009, the latest in Basel following up triumphs in Beijing, Dubai and Belgrade earlier in the season.
His accurate and powerful groundstrokes make him one of the most feared players on the circuit and it would be naïve to write him off inside the O2 Arena.
