Player Profile

Another player whose preparations for the US Open have been hampered by injury is Australian number one Stosur.

The French Open runner-up was ruled out of the warm-up events in Cincinnati and Montreal after scans revealed a stress reaction in her right arm.

The US Open is her least successful Grand Slam tournament having only won two matches in six visits to Flushing Meadows.

It is a mystery as to why Stosur has struggled so much at the event - especially as her maiden singles title came on the Osaka hardcourts last year.

Her muscular physique and impressive kick serve had taken her to the brink of major glory in Paris and she is one of the cleanest ball-strikers on tour.

Due to her abysmal record in New York though, she could be one to oppose at this year's championships.
