Cilic has long been tipped to follow in the footsteps of Croatian great Goran Ivanisevic.
It looked like he was bang on track to do just that 12 months ago when he beat both Juan Martin Del Potro and Andy Roddick en route to the semi-finals here.
Despite winning the first set on that match, Cilic went down in four to Andy Murray and he largely failed to hit such heights again in 2010.
However, the 6ft 6in star is still only 22 so has plenty of time on his side.
He also hs the backing of a fine coach in Bob Brett - one who once helped Ivanisevic and also guided Boris Becker to Grand Slam glory.
Cilic will be hoping to turn over a new leaf in 2011. If he does so, he certainly has the talent to cause the best problems.
