The Russian was one of the success stories of last season, reaching two Grand Slam finals.
Zvonareva enjoyed the best year of her career as she reached the final at both Wimbledon and the US Open, losing on both occasions.
Now Zvonareva will look to go one step further.
After starting the season with an impressive victory over world number one Caroline Wozniacki - she lost just one game in their exhibition match in Hong Kong - her hopes of doing so are high.
Having seemingly managed to conquer the mental demons which often reduced her to tears on court in the early part of her career, Zvonareva will be a feared opponent in Melbourne where she reached the last four in 2009.
One of the bright sparks of the WTA, she is studying for a degree in international economic relations.
