face reality, ricky is a good fighterand thats it, hes nothing special if he was he would have fought torres instead of lazcano who hadnit fought forr 18mths. ricky would stand no chance against pbf, miguel cotto or even torres. if hes meant to be the best at light welter weight then fight torres

I thought that Ricky put on a great show. He's a true entertainer and we sometime forget that that is what boxing is about. It's great to see him get a victory and next time a win via ko will put the spring back in his step for sure.

I was there last saturday and have to say the atmosphere was amazing. Having said that I do think Ricky looked a little nervous and was maybe trying a little too hard for the fans. Although the fight was won easily, Ricky definately DID take too many shots -something he clearly won't be able to do if the rematch with Mayweather comes off. We all know Ricky's fighting style and whatever else happens in his career, I was proud to have seen first hand, in my opinion one of the top 3 British fighters of all time. Go on Ricky !!!!!

I have to say I wasn't that impressed with the Hitmans Preformance, I can see by most of the comments on this page most people were but I'm not sure why? Yes he put on a great show for the fans, yes he ws relentless and won the fight with ease, yes people seem to be on his back since loosing to be best fighter on the planet (Mayweather). However, surely everyone could see how easy he was to hit, and how hurt he was of what seemed to be fairly light shots, where has all the head and foot movement gone? The swapping sides? the In and out? In the past I've been Rickys backing man, many times I've held his corner in boxing debates and I'm still doing it now, but either he's lost something or he's just not up to using his head when he enters a ring anymore, with his style you are always gonna take shots but you can reduce the amount of shots you take. After the fight Ricky said I should of boxed instead of doing what the fans wanted?? Well all the boxing fans that I know wanted to see that you were still able to box as well as brawl, we just didn't see it. Ricky you'rew the man, I'm a huge fan and have travelled far and wide to watch you, I just feel you've taken all you can from Billy Graham and need freshing up. All the best tho buddy you're a ledgend, good luck in the final run of fights. RESPECT WHERE ITS DUE, WELL IN RICKY

I thought Ricky proved his critics wrong, a good steady performance, OK he didn't stop Jaun when the opportunities presented and there were a few, but on the other side he had 56,000 chanting fans who were looking for a good performance - he delivered. The venue was great for such a return, the build up in the stadium and outside was electric - I was sat in the family area with my wife and daughters (They¿re bigger fans at 10 & 12 than I), everyone was having a great time - the 'Hatton band' were tops ¿ well done. Sure he looked nervous t start, wouldn't you be - facing a guy with effectively as good a record as your own - but he held his nerve and came through - back on track, not that Ricky was ever de-railed - I think his plan has worked - Mayweather, from Ricky¿s performance will be thinking, sure another easy ride - we have just observed Ricky's reincarnation! More of the same please Sir! ¿ Your Country Needs You! Arise Sir Ricky Hatton.

hatton was quality on saturday looked sharp but dodgy at times but still proved he can beat anybody on his day i thought against mayweather the ref was biased towards hatton brink him to britain ricky and kill the money grabbing cocky and arrogant of a usa nomal person beat mailnaggi beat so called pretty boy and beat cotto then you will hang your gloves up with not just being named the best pound for pound fighter but also a true champion and did us all proud when that day comes well done ricky!

I was there saturday night, and I loved every minute of it, although it did get quite cold! The fight itself was what I expected, a tought fight against a very strong opponent in Juan Lazcano. If he fights like that against that prat called Mallignaggi then i'm sure he will have him down within 5 rounds, cause for me Mallignaggi is nowhere near good enough to deserve going toe to toe with the legend that is Ricky Hatton.

Ricky Hatton was totally entertaining on Saturday night , his only problem is he wants to entertain and give the "people" value for money. We all know that he could just dance around the ring and build up the points but that is not what Ricky is about. I cannot wait to see this legend entertain and top the bill again whether is Vegas or New York , he will give you what you want to see and that is world class boxing with excitement

Stephen Glister says...

I am sick of death of people saying Hatton has lost it! Only because he has lost 1 fight in his whole career and that was to the best pound for pound fighter! Also, people are saying Hatton was rubbish because he couldn¿t even knock Lazcano down and cause he got caught too many times, well when was the last time anyone knocked Lazcano down? And for him getting caught too many times that is typical Ricky Hatton and Hatton just took the punches easily, apart from I think in round 8 where Lazcano had a good spell, but Jim Watt the commentator said it looked like a low blow what started it all off. So for people saying Hatton is a bad fighter because he couldn¿t knock Lazcano down and because of his one defeat in his professional career are just basically stupid. Also, for people to say Paulie Malignaggi's would beat Hatton, what a load of rubbish the man was meant to wow us all, fair enough he did with his hair, and how bad he was. He was very lucky to win his fight on a split decision and let¿s hope he is much better when he fights Hatton, otherwise there won¿t be much of a fight.

Paul Smyth says...

Well done Ricky, I thought he never looked like losing ......he'll easily beat the magic man. Th question is who should be next?? I think he needs to realise that he'll never beat mayweather, I think that he has more of a chance against cotto.....what a fight that would be.....Cotto and Hatton going toe to toe!!

Nick Courbet says...

Difficult to see what is best for Hatton out there beyond Malignaggi. I would have loved to see the Witter fight but now that is out the window, I fear there is nothing really out there. As much as I'd love to see Mayweather - Hatton at Wembley, it probably shouldn't happen, as Mayweather would lose credibility from a great deal of the boxing community for fighting for money rather than the best guys out there. Hatton is a good fighter, but I don't think he would fair well at all against Cotto or even Margarito, as they are probably too strong . Mayweather would probably beat both these guys (Ironically I'd give Hatton a better chance against Mayweather than Cotto) Lets face it Cotto-Mayweather is the most meaningful fight out there. If Hatton wants credibility to get another crack at Mayweather, I'm afraid he'd need to fight a more dangerous opponent than Malignaggi. Mosley, Oscar, Cintron, Margarito etc etc

Sav Izzo says...

As Ricky Hatton said in the interview , he could have stayed behind the jab but its not his style , he should make it his style !. He has made his crowd pleasing fights now he should concentrate on being safe for the future or he will end up like Ali . He got comfortable with lazcano's power and went for a knockdown but on that performance his welterweight days may be over . Less attacking the bodysuit and more sparring would show how much he gets caught on the way in .

Kevin Temporal says...

Ricky was poor and he fought a guy who lost to Vivian Harris , who got KO'd by Junior Witter.Juan also lost to Castillo, a guy that Ricky beat easily. Whats worse is that it was Ricky that was hurt on three occassions not JL. Paulie Malignaggi will do what Mayweather did and knock him out after dancing through each round. Hatton couldnt beat the best, he would last with Cotto, couldnt lace Oscar's boots and would get KO'd again if he had a re-match with Floyd Mayweather

Mark Keats says...

I've watched Ricky Hatton for years, even before he beat John Thaxton. Before he had any success I thought he had something, his style of fighting for a start, so different from the drab clinchers we so often see. Problem is Ricky's style hasn't developed much over the years, and taking the amount of punishment he does each fight caught up with him in Las Vegas, that and a dreadful Joe Cortez, backing him up every time he went near Mayweather. If Ricky is to win his next two fights against Malignaggi and hopefully Mayweather (with a fairer ref), he needs to come in behind the jab more, too much wading in. If he doesn't he'll lose, definitely against Mayweather, who was caused problems by De La Hoya's jab. Whatever the outcome though, Ricky Hatton-Legend!

Sean Talbot says...

I was there to watch Ricky on sat and thought that for entertainment value it was spot on, Lazcano has got a good chin and probably isn't getting the credit that he earnt by taking 12 rounds of the pumped up hitman, whilst landing some big punches himself. Ricky isn't ready for another Mayweather fight at the moment, but I think he will knock out Malignaggi. Hopefully that will be in New York as to beat him on his own turf might shut him up! Malignaggi is quick and quite tough but i cant see hatton getting beat on points, and Malignaggi certainly hasnt got the power to knock him out, regardless of how defencively poor hatton looked at times. Great night and hopefully a few more to come following the hitman

Andrew Gallacher says...

Having just watched the Hatton fight again i am convinced that Witter would wipe the floor with him. His open style lends itself perfectly to the superior skills and speed of Witter. Only problem is Hatton knows this and is running scared.
